Looking for things to do in London when it’s sunny? Even though we’re now into September, summer isn’t over just yet! Here are some suggestions for how to make the most of London in the sun.
Escape to the rooftops
Drink or dine with a view, and soak up the rays whilst you’re at it! There are plenty of buzzing rooftop bars in London – check out our guide to the top rooftop bars in East London.
Enjoy some al-fresco, riverside dining
If heights aren’t your thing, why not head for the riverside and enjoy scenic surroundings whilst you dine. Some of London’s best restaurants can be found along the River Thames, including The Gun, a popular gastropub near Canary Wharf, and Bravas Tapas in Wapping’s beautiful St Katherine’s Docks.
Stretch your legs
As is not often the case in cities of a similar size, London has plenty of parks to enjoy the warmer months. From Hampstead Heath to Greenwich Park, wherever you live in London, you’re likely to be in close proximity of some lush green spaces. If you feel like stretching your legs, Londonist has a great list of weekend walks, including Lea Valley and the Regent’s Canal Towpath.
Take a dip
If you’re looking for things to do in London when it’s sunny, dig out your swimming costume and get yourself over to one of London’s lidos or swimming ponds. Originally an art installation, King’s Cross Pond Club is a man-made fresh water public swimming bath spanning 40 metres, and is definitely worth a visit. If swimming ponds aren’t for you, head to Tooting Bec Lido and it’s iconic colourful changing room huts.
Enjoy some open-air theatre
You can find world-class open-air theatre productions at Shakespeare’s Globe on the Southbank, as well as in various parks across the City, including Regent’s Park, which boasts its own picnic area, BBQ and buffet.
