In 1605, Guy Fawkes failed in his plot to blow up the Palace of Westminster. 411 years later, the people all across the UK are getting ready for another round of Guy Fawkes Day celebrations – here’s our quick guide to firework displays around London.

Alexandra Palace Fireworks Festival

Friday 4th November to Saturday 5th November

Set in the iconic Alexandra Palace, this two-day extravaganza boasts stunning firework displays and a laser show. Around 50,000 visitors attend each year, and the event also features ice-skating, a German Bier Festival, street food, craft beer, and a funfair.

Nearest stations: Wood Green and Alexandra Palace.

Southwark Park Fireworks

Saturday 5th November

Now in its 13th year, Southwark Park Fireworks is a firm favourite amongst Londoners. Gates open at 5.30pm, with the firework display lighting up the sky around 6.30pm.

Nearest stations: Surrey Quays and Bermondsey.

Blackheath Fireworks

Saturday 5th November

Entrance is free to this event, which usually sees around 100,000 people flocking to join in the fun. The fireworks begin around 8pm, and a funfair starts at 12 noon, with the bars opening from 5pm.

Nearest stations: Blackheath and Maze Hill.

Battersea Park Fireworks Display

Saturday 5th November

Year after year, Battersea residents come in their droves to the Battersea Park Fireworks Display, which features impressive fireworks set to a soundtrack. Gates open at 6pm.

The Shard

If you want to lose the crowds and stay in the warm, take in London’s fireworks displays from the best seat in the house. With viewing platforms on the 68th, 69th, and 72nd floors, a trip to The Shard guarantees a stellar view of fireworks displays across the capital.
